Fair Use & DMCA Policy

1. About FreshNews.ai

FreshNews.ai is an AI-assisted newsroom that creates short, business-oriented summaries of news, trends, and analysis from around the web.

Our goal is to help busy professionals quickly understand what happened, why it matters, and what to do next — while always directing readers back to the original publishers for the full story.

We do not present ourselves as the original source of the underlying reporting. Instead, we provide:

  • Curated links to the original articles
  • Short summaries and commentary
  • Business-focused implications and "what this means for you" sections

Each article page clearly displays a Verified sources section that links back to the original publishers.

2. How We Use and Attribute Third-Party Content

FreshNews.ai may reference, quote, or summarize content from third-party publishers. When we do:

  • We always link back to the original source on its own domain.
  • We typically use article titles or short paraphrased titles, limited excerpts, and high-level facts.
  • We prominently show the publisher name and/or domain alongside the link.

We do not republish full articles, full paywalled content, or entire databases.

If you are a publisher or rights holder and have concerns about how your content is referenced, please see the sections "Publisher & Rights Holder Options" and "DMCA Takedown Procedure" below.

3. Why We Believe Our Use Qualifies as Fair Use

In many cases, our use of third-party content is intended to fall under the "fair use" doctrine and similar concepts in other jurisdictions. Only a court can ultimately decide what is or is not fair use, but we design our product with these principles in mind:

  1. Purpose and character of the use – Our summaries are transformative: they add analysis, context, and audience-specific implications for business and marketing leaders, and they are not a substitute for the original reporting.
  2. Nature of the copyrighted work – We primarily reference factual news, reporting, and industry updates rather than purely creative works.
  3. Amount and substantiality – We use limited excerpts, key points, or short paraphrased segments rather than full text, and avoid reproducing more content than is necessary.
  4. Effect on the market – Our product is designed to send readers back to the original publishers via prominent source links, and we do not sell or license full-text versions of third-party articles.

If you believe our use of your content does not qualify as fair use (or a similar concept in your jurisdiction), please contact us and we will review your request promptly.

4. Use of AI Technology

FreshNews.ai uses AI models and internal tools to help discover relevant news, draft summaries, and suggest "what this means for you" style takeaways.

To maintain quality and integrity:

  • Articles are generated using a mix of AI and human review.
  • Source links are clearly displayed on each article page.
  • We refine prompts and workflows to reduce hallucinations and misattributions.

If you identify an inaccuracy or misattribution, please let us know and we will correct or remove it as appropriate.

5. Publisher & Rights Holder Options

If you are a publisher, journalist, or rights holder, you can request that we:

  • Update how we reference your brand or content
  • Correct or remove a link, summary, or headline
  • Exclude specific articles or your site from future summaries (where technically feasible)

To make a request, please contact us via our Contact page or:

Email: legal@freshnews.ai
Subject line: Publisher Request – FreshNews.ai

Please include:

  • Your name and organization
  • The URL(s) on FreshNews.ai you are concerned about
  • The URL(s) of your original content
  • A short description of what you'd like us to change or remove

6. DMCA Takedown Procedure (U.S. Rights Holders)

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized agent) and believe that content on FreshNews.ai infringes your copyright, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Your DMCA notice must include the following information (pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or a representative list of such works.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material (e.g., the full URL on FreshNews.ai).
  4. Your contact information, including your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

  4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court in your judicial district (or, if outside the U.S., in any district in which the service provider may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DMCA notice or their agent.

Counter-notifications should also be sent to dmca@freshnews.ai.
